It goes without saying that you should take care of your feet all year long. However, we all know that after the winter the feet always appear to be kind of tired, often calloused, and dry. Can you get rid of the problem with creams only? Not quite – you should consider an at-home spa or quick revitalizing treatment. It doesn’t need to be that timeconsuming. Meet the best methods for smooth feet.
The method for smooth feet – bath and exfoliation
Bath, soaking, and exfoliators are good and affordable at-home methods to restore your feet with smoothness and great condition.
Remember that the skin on feet is way thicker than on other parts of the body and it doesn’t have sebaceous glands that are responsible for creating the natural protection for the skin.
As it’s easy to guess, the skin becomes thick, hard, calloused, and dry over time. Shoes create additional pressure on the skin and blisters create. Feet often suffer from cracks and roughness. How to take care of such feet?
First step – feet beth
For such a ‘tired’ feet after winter that are about to be wearing summer shoes, it is best to prepare special softening feet bath. Add 1/3 of a glass of salt to warm water (it can be special salt bought at the store or just regular coarse kitchen salt) and complement it with a few drops of refreshing essential oils and natural oils, such as argan, macadamia, or sweet almond oil.
An amazing idea is to add a bit of baking soda to the mix as it is able to soften the calloused epidermis. It will then be easy to remove.
Second step – exfoliator
Once the skin of feet is softened with the bath, it is time to remove the dead skin cells. You can start during the bath by scrab the feet with pumice, then take an exfoliator and massage the feet for a few minutes. You can easily make foot exfoliator on your own using, e.g. sugar or coffee mixed with natural oils and (optional) essential oils.
Third step – pedicure
Another step is to trim and file the nails and get rid of cuticles. Remember that nails of toes should be cut straight, this way you avoid ingrowth. Provide nails with a nice shape using a file. Once towel dried, you can also use a special foot rasp file or electric rasp if you observe that post-bath some calloused skin remained.
Fourth step – foot cream
Bathed skin of feet, smooth and without calloused layer can absorb nourishing ingredients from cream way better that is why it’s a time to choose a good foot cream with softening and smoothing action. The good foot cream is also such that it has refreshing properties, it often contains essential oils and inhibits excess sweating leaving your feet dry, clean, well-taken care of, free from damage, and scratches.
Fifth step – color for the nails
No matter if you choose the colorless nail polish, slightly pigmented one, regular nail polish, or hybrid – your nails will certainly look amazing either way. This season is all about classic blue, so make sure that you are equipped properly so that it wasn’t missing from your stylization.
